“Whatever Mrs. Cross says, Mr. Cross can only agree. It’s clear who will be in charge at home.”
Marie laughed. “At home, Darren certainly listens to me. But at the company, he’s the one in charge. I’m just his second-in-command.”
“You’re too modest, Mrs. Cross,” a reporter said. “We heard that the Cross Group’s current success is largely thanks to the Ward Group’s support. You two are a perfect match, a true power couple.”
Another reporter asked, “Mr. Cross, you’ve broken through social conventions and defied expectations to be together. Do you have anything you’d like to say to everyone?”
The reporters were excited, hoping for a juicy story. But Darren’s response was cold. “In the future, the Cross Group will become... a new powerhouse in Eldoria City.”
His answer left the reporters stunned.
Shouldn’t this be the moment he professed his love for the bride and said a few sweet words?
Why was the groom talking about the Cross Group becoming a powerhouse? Was their marriage just a business alliance? Was there no love involved?
Marie’s face darkened. Darren was supposed to be praising her beauty and her abilities in front of all the media, expressing his undying love and making everyone envious.
He could have at least said something about them growing old together.
But he didn’t mention her at all, focusing only on the Cross Group. Marie was mortified, but she tried to console herself with the fact that at least he hadn't brought up her first wedding again.
“Excuse us, we need to go get married now. There will be time for interviews later.”
Marie quickly tried to lead Darren into the venue, worried about what other mortifying things he might say.
As they were about to leave, Victoria appeared. Seeing the crowd of reporters, she felt a surge of pride.
