“Stop recording!”
Since she was from the Ward Group, the officer felt obligated to show some deference.
Just then, Terence appeared. “So special privileges work that well, do they? In that case, I wonder if the Lockwood Group’s privileges can be of some use here.”
The two officers heard “Lockwood Group” and froze. The Lockwoods were an even bigger force than the Wards, someone you definitely didn't want to cross.
“Sir, you misunderstand. I only asked her to stop recording to protect the other party's privacy. I didn't mean to imply any special treatment.”
“Oh, so it was my misunderstanding. Well, since I was mistaken, shouldn’t you be getting back to your work and taking her away?”
“Yes, sir.”
And just like that, Victoria was escorted into the police car, shouting curses the entire time.
Terence said to Natalie, “That old witch dared to hit you. I’ll make sure she pays for it. I’ll hire the best lawyers. You don’t have to worry about a thing.”
“She only slapped her once. You don’t have to take it so seriously.”
“She dared to lay a hand on my woman. If I don’t teach her a lesson, people will think Terence Lockwood is a pushover.”
Hearing Terence call Natalie “his woman,” Darren felt like he was seething with rage.
Hanley hadn't expected that just by asking his mom to come to his conference, he would get his grandma arrested. And from the sound of it, they wanted to make her suffer.
Hanley quickly grabbed Natalie’s hand. “Mommy, it was wrong for Grandma to hit you. I’ll apologize on her behalf. Please, forgive her. I want my grandma back!”
Hanley cried loudly, as if he were genuinely terrified.
Terence’s presence was intimidating even to adults, let alone a child.
Natalie turned to Terence. “Victoria hit me. The law has clear penalties for that, whether it’s detention or a fine.”
Terence frowned. She was too soft-hearted.
