Victoria felt like her world was collapsing. Oh, this little troublemaker. Why was he saying this now?
“Hanley, what nonsense are you talking about? This woman doesn’t deserve to be your mother, and she certainly doesn’t deserve to set foot in the Cross family home.”
Darren then looked at Natalie. “Hanley risked his safety to sneak out and find you, all so you’d come to his parent-teacher conference. After all that, you still refuse?”
“Darren, do you have selective hearing? Did you not hear what your mother said? She said I don’t deserve to be Hanley’s mom! She called the school and told them not to let me anywhere near him. How am I supposed to attend his conference now? Do you really think the school security will let me in?”
Victoria, hearing this, stammered defensively, “Natalie, don’t try to pin the blame on me. You just think you’ve landed a big fish, so you don’t want Hanley anymore. Hanley, you need to see this woman for the monster she is. She’s already latched onto Terence Lockwood and wants to be a stepmother to his two kids. In her eyes, you, her own son, are nothing.”
“Victoria, you can slander me like this right to my face. Do you really expect me to just take it?”
“Am I slandering you? I’m speaking the truth.”
“The truth? Well, now is the perfect time to talk about facts.”
Natalie’s gaze was so cold that a chill ran down Victoria’s spine.
Just as Natalie finished speaking, a police car pulled up, and two officers got out.
Victoria saw them and felt like she was about to explode with fury.
The woman had actually called the cops on her.
Natalie said to the officers, “That’s the old woman who slapped me for no reason. I saw a security camera behind that tree over there. You should be able to get the footage.”
Victoria followed Natalie’s finger and saw the camera.
