Darren couldn't hold back his anger any longer.
"Natalie, I've already bent over backward for you. Why do you have to be so stubborn?"
"This isn't stubbornness. It's a matter of principle."
Darren was about to explode.
"What do you want me to do?"
Natalie's voice was calm, but her gaze was firm. "Keep your distance."
Darren felt like he was going insane. Was all that effort she'd put into pleasing him in the past just an act? Was her so-called love really that fragile?
It was all just excuses!
"Natalie, you're Hanley's mother. Do you really want him to grow up in a broken home? I only agreed to the divorce to show you that you wouldn't be happy without me and our child. Why are you still so unrepentant?"
"If you're talking about being unrepentant, then you're right. I truly don't know what I should be repenting for. After all, you're the one who was in the wrong!"
Just then, Lucas walked over. "Mister, even little kids know to admit when they're wrong. How can you be so shameless?"
The sudden appearance of Lucas and Liana infuriated Darren.
What were they doing here?
Darren glared at Natalie, his eyes filled with rage.
"Natalie, do you now have to bring these two with you even when you're visiting your own son? Who are you to them?"
He was livid. Was Natalie that desperate to be their stepmother? Dragging them everywhere she went, did she not care if it upset Hanley?
"We're divorced. I don't have to explain myself to you!"
