Victoria kept trying to catch Darren's eye. Mr. Ward was in a vegetative state, which meant Marie was certain to inherit the Ward Group in the future.
Once she inherited it, wouldn't the Ward Group basically become part of their Cross Group?
Was he an idiot? Why would he push Marie away at a time like this?
"Marie, don't worry. Darren, Marie is very important to me and Hanley. I will only ever acknowledge you as my daughter-in-law."
"She already is your daughter-in-law. Your eldest son's wife," Darren said before walking away, leaving Marie standing there, her face terrifyingly grim.
She was going to crush Natalie under her heel and show Darren who was truly worthy of him.

The Lockwood Estate.
Natalie brought a bowl of herbal medicine to Liana. She had brewed it herself. Although she'd added licorice to the ingredients to reduce the bitterness, the medicinal smell was still overpowering.
Mrs. Lockwood frowned. "What kind of medicine is this? It smells awful. Are you really going to make my granddaughter drink this?"
Natalie explained, "The smell isn't pleasant, I know. But it has miraculous effects and is very precious."
Mrs. Lockwood's frown eased slightly, though her expression remained conflicted.
The smell was truly terrible.
As Natalie brought the medicine over, Lucas immediately jumped back. That stuff was horrifying.
But when he saw the bowl reach his sister, he quickly ran back to her side. "Don't be scared, Liana. I'm here."
Lucas asked worriedly, "Natalie, does my sister really have to drink such bitter medicine?"
"Liana is unable to speak because of oxygen deprivation at birth, which damaged the Broca's area in her brain's language center. This herb can repair that damaged area and restart her language system."
Lucas didn't fully understand the technical terms, but he understood that his sister had to take the medicine to get better.
Liana gestured with her small hands.
[Natalie, Liana can do it.]
