Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 447

"Don't come any closer!"

Seeing Adrian approach, Helen grabbed Isabel. "I don't believe you're faster than my gun."

"You can try me."

Adrian didn't stop walking, his dark eyes brewing a storm.

"Ah—"

Helen screamed and was about to pull the trigger, but someone else was faster, shooting her in the wrist. The gun fell from her hand.

Adrian moved swiftly, pulling Isabel into his arms.

She looked for Evelyn and saw Daniel had gotten to her, breathing a sigh of relief.

Everything changed in an instant.

Isabel heard a muffled grunt from the man beside her, followed by Daniel’s desperate shout, "Watch out!"

Then, for a few seconds, everything went silent, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps swarming around them.

Helen lay in a pool of blood.

Isabel saw the man she had met earlier that day.

"Let's get to the hospital."

Isabel didn't know what had happened. She was pulled along by Evelyn, pushed by a crowd of people, and ended up at the hospital.

Adrian was rushed into emergency surgery.

Daniel, covered in blood, spoke to her. "Ms. Hayes, are you injured anywhere? You should get checked out."

Isabel shook her head. "I'm fine."

After a moment of silence, she asked, "How is he?"

Daniel's face was grim. "Not good. We'll have to wait for the doctors for specifics. He might be transferred. The facilities here are too poor."

Just as he finished speaking, a doctor came out. "I've administered first aid, but we don't have the equipment for a major surgery like this. The helicopter is ready. We're sending him to the city."

The whole ordeal stretched deep into the night.

"So while you're alive, don't overcomplicate things. Keep it simple."

Evelyn didn't agree. "People think a lot when they're alive, but you also have to consider whether someone's actions are forgivable. If Adrian died here today, maybe she could find it in her heart to forgive him."

The man didn't look at Evelyn or respond to her.

Instead, he looked at Isabel and asked, "Are you sure you want him to die?"

Isabel remained silent.

Finding the conversation dull, the man also fell silent.

He didn't speak again until Daniel returned.

He had brought food. "Ms. Hayes, you should eat something. I've arranged for a room. If you and Ms. Caldwell are tired, you can go rest. I'll watch things here."

Isabel took the food, gave some to Evelyn, and gestured for him to eat as well. "Didn't you just say I have the authority to sign? If I leave, can you sign the papers?"

Daniel wanted to say that he could, but in the end, he said nothing.

The other man spoke up again. "Women are so heartless. That's why I never get involved with them. Regardless of their past conflicts, Mr. Blackwell saved Ms. Hayes—that's a fact. A Bentley, no matter how sturdy, is no match for a large truck. It could be crushed like a toy. He was practically torn apart in that crash, yet he forced himself to go save you and even took a bullet."
