Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 428

For some reason, the once-clear sky suddenly opened up, and it began to rain.

Huge drops pelted the ground, quickly forming puddles that splashed with each impact.

Adrian had arrived in a hurry, dressed only in a gray shirt and black trousers.

He was instantly soaked, the fabric clinging to his body, outlining his lean, muscular frame.

The force of the raindrops was painful, but he knelt unflinchingly on the gravel path, his back perfectly straight.

"Is this some kind of self-pity ploy?" Miles started to go out to chase him away, but Julian stopped him. "Let him kneel."

Miles protested, "What's the point of him kneeling here? We're not going to forgive him. It's an eyesore. Let's just get rid of him."

Julian said, "I'm not asking you to forgive him. If he wants to kneel, let him."

Miles didn't get it, but he listened to Julian.

Evelyn poked Isabel's shoulder. "What do you think?"

Isabel turned and walked away from the window. "He can do whatever he wants."

"Exactly," Evelyn said, following her back to the sofa. "Men always think they can just kneel and make everything they did wrong disappear. It's pathetic."

"As if kneeling is some great feat."

But Adrian was different.

In his entire life, he'd never had a reason to kneel before anyone, let alone on both knees.

He hadn't even kneeled for old Mrs. Blackwell.

It was said that when old Mr. Blackwell passed away, Adrian had only kneeled on one knee to burn paper offerings, without even bowing his head.

But no one had said a word.

He had always been a bit difficult, but for some reason, so many people still cared for him.

He could be so cold and unyielding.

"You're softening up, aren't you?" Evelyn had been talking for a while, but Isabel hadn't moved. She gave her a light tap.

Isabel snapped out of her thoughts. "No, I was just thinking about something."

Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Thinking about Adrian?"

Isabel fell silent.

He knew Oliver still had things to say to Isabel.

Once Edmund was out of the frame, Isabel said, "Yes, that's your father. He's trying to apologize."

Oliver pursed his lips and asked, "Mom, if he kneels, will you forgive him?"

"No, I won't."

Oliver didn't know what to say to that.

He had been thinking that if his dad was kneeling, maybe he should too, if it would make his mom forgive him.

Now, hearing her answer, he was at a loss for words.

"Dad hurt you. He deserves this…"

Isabel said, "Put Martha on the phone."

Martha wasn't nearby. Seeing Oliver's suddenly dejected expression, she asked what was wrong.

Isabel replied, "It's nothing. He'll figure it out on his own. Just continue with their normal routine—bath, stories, dinner, and bed. I'll message you if I can make it back tonight, and if not, I'll let you know."

Martha didn't press further. "Okay, don't worry about a thing."
