For a moment, Lucas felt a bit awkward.
He simply wiped his mouth and handed the phone to Aurora.
“If you don’t want me to answer, then I won’t.”
Hearing that, Aurora found it rather amusing.
“It’s your phone and your right. I can’t interfere with your decision to talk to her just because of my own feelings.”
Aurora spoke with calm conviction. She knew very well that she already held a certain place in Lucas’ heart.
After he made their relationship public, it was as good as giving her a rightful title.
Wherever she went, being Mrs. Carter would be her greatest advantage.
Thinking about it, Aurora felt both joy and a trace of sadness.
After all, she once said she wanted to earn everyone’s respect on her own.
But now, Lucas had beaten her to it.
Though she hadn’t been willing at first, thinking it through now, she realized it only meant she had taken a shortcut, reaching her goals a little faster.
It didn’t mean she couldn’t achieve her dreams herself.
Hearing Aurora’s words, Lucas looked at her seriously.
“I just don’t want there to be any distance between us.”
He took her hand. “No matter if it’s Yvonne or anyone else, no one should come between us.”
Aurora looked at him and said sincerely, “That’s exactly why I trust you even more.”
“The road ahead of us is still long. We can’t let something like this trip us up.”
She held his hand tightly. “Besides, we’re husband and wife now. Why should we be afraid of Yvonne?
“You’ve known her since you were young. I can’t let our relationship be the reason yours with her turns cold.”
