Wendy froze, completely thrown off by Judy’s words.
She stammered for a while before blurting out, “You’re just making excuses! Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing.
“And you’re only with my brother because he’s easy to fool. You’re after his money, admit it!”
Judy almost laughed at the accusation.
She turned to Kenneth. “Kenneth, tell me honestly, am I really with you for your money?
“These past few months, you know exactly how much I’ve spent, don’t you?”
Then she looked at Wendy and curved her lips in a faint, cold smile. “I guess you haven’t told your sister what kind of relationship we actually have or maybe you never explained how we help each other.”
Wendy blinked, thrown off. She didn’t understand what Judy meant, so she turned back to Kenneth.
“Brother, what is she talking about?”
She jabbed a finger at Judy. “She’s been spending so much of our family’s money, and now she won’t even admit it!
“And today, I caught her red-handed, yet she’s still denying everything. You really think she’s telling the truth? If you keep believing her, I’ll tell Mom and Dad!”
Kenneth pressed a hand to his temple, his patience running thin. Then he suddenly snapped.
“Enough! Not another word.
“She’s already explained everything. Why can’t you just believe her?”
“And this video, don’t think I didn’t notice it’s a secret recording. Why is it only a short clip? Why didn’t you film the whole thing? Is it because you already knew it wouldn’t tell the story you wanted?”
He took the phone and stepped toward her, his voice sharp.
