Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1685

Judy quickly stepped back, putting as much distance between them as she could. She didn’t dare go near him again.

Looking at the man in front of her, a wave of fear swept through her.

He was nothing like the Joseph she once knew.

He felt like a stranger now, someone dangerous.

“I’m begging you,” she said, her voice trembling. “We’re over. We both have our own lives now. Isn’t that better for the both of us?”

Joseph let out a cold snort. “That’s just what you tell yourself. What does that have to do with me?

“Judy, listen to me. You’ll never be able to erase what’s between us. You’ll never escape me.”

Her chest tightened in despair. She’d thought coming abroad would finally free her from him, but it seemed his shadow still followed her everywhere.

What would it take for him to let her go?

She had believed it was all behind her, yet reality hit her again like a cruel joke.

Judy gave a bitter laugh. “What do you want from me, Joseph? What will make you leave me alone?”

His tone turned grim, unyielding.

“No matter what you say, I’ll ask you again—what’s your choice? Will you come back with me and start over?”

By the end, his voice cracked with something close to pleading.

“Judy… please. I’m begging you. Let’s start over and live a good life together, okay?”

He gripped her hand tightly, refusing to let go. “I know I was wrong before, but I’ll make it right this time. You said you needed help with Aurora Walton—I’ll do it. I’ll help you bring her down.”

Judy almost laughed from disbelief.

She yanked her arm free with all her strength.
