“Malvina, I have to tell you, I’ve never felt so wronged in my life. If Ethan wasn’t such a gentleman about women, I’d have been cheated on already.”
“I’m talking about that night when I got drunk and you brought me home. I passed out not long after I got in, and do you know what my wife did? She went looking for Ethan. I don’t know what exactly happened, but I’d bet anything something did.”
“The next morning, Ethan actually came to see me. He told me I needed to treat Natalie better, and said all these weird things. I’ve even got someone looking into it. Once I get the results, I’ll know for sure if she did anything behind my back.”
“Malvina, I’m just so grateful for you. You get me, you support me, you even help me at work. You only care about me. But Natalie… she’s got two men in her heart.”
“To her, Ethan matters more than I do. There’s so much I just can’t say to her. You’re the only one I can really talk to.”
Malvina gave him a gentle smile. “Jordan, maybe you’re overthinking it. I know Natalie isn’t nice to me, but I can tell she still cares about you.”
“She’s greedy, sure, and she does love Mr. Adams. But come on, Mr. Adams is amazing. Any woman who meets him would fall for him. You can’t really blame your wife for being so into him.”
Jordan scoffed. “You don’t have to defend her. I know exactly what’s going on in her head.”
“Let’s change the subject. Malvina, would you give me a massage? I had a few drinks at lunch, and my head is pounding.”
“Of course.”
They fell quiet. Malvina started to massage his head and shoulders.
