Natalie gave a gentle smile. “Honestly, I just want Ethan to let go of his feelings for me. I’m married to Jordan now. I’m his wife, and that’s where my life is.”
She glanced at Sophia. “You should talk to Ethan and help him move on from me. If he can win Isabella back, then he should really give things a chance with her. And you need to stop picking on Isabella. She’s not as bad as you think. You only see her faults because you’ve already made up your mind about her.”
Sophia rolled her eyes. “Natalie, you’re just too nice. Seriously, you always think of everyone else. Isabella is nothing like you. She’s never been good to me. She embarrassed me in front of everyone, didn’t even try to cut me some slack, just dragged me out and kicked me out. If I hadn’t gone there to stir up trouble, I wouldn’t have wasted my time on her tiny shop anyway.”
Sophia was used to fancy places. In her eyes, Isabella’s bookstore and cafe were so beneath her, they didn’t even deserve a second glance. She thought those places were nowhere near good enough for someone of her status.
“I’m not about to defend Isabella, and I’m definitely not going to tell Ethan to stay with her. I’ll only tell him to hurry up and get a divorce. If he doesn’t love her, why keep wasting his life? The sooner they split, the better. Natalie, do you have any good ideas for me? I just won’t be satisfied until Isabella is totally ruined. Give me something, anything, that’ll really embarrass her. The more humiliating, the better. And it has to get picked up by reporters. Once they spread the story, her reputation will be trash, Ethan will want nothing to do with her, and she’ll never be allowed back into our family. Not just that, but she’ll never marry into a good family again. Who would want her with a name like that? She thinks hanging out with Linda and Barbara means she can climb back into high society? Please, she’s just not good enough.”
