Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 398

“You can’t be so sure. What if she has another way out? We’re the ones who kidnapped them. If the cops show up, we’re screwed. I’m worried she’ll try to get rid of us so no one knows what she did. Plus, she wouldn’t have to pay us,” the cautious bodyguard said, gesturing toward the food on the table.

The others understood immediately. He was suggesting Marjorie might have poisoned the food.

Whether it was true or not, the seed of doubt had been planted. None of them would touch the food now. It was always better to be safe than sorry.

They pushed the food aside and started playing cards instead.

One of them joked, “Sounds like things are getting pretty wild next door tonight. All we can do is sit here with our hands in our pockets. The misery!”

The man next to him nudged him with his elbow. “Once we get paid, you’ll have all the women you want. Hahaha, just hold on a little longer.”

The others chimed in with their own crude remarks.

The room filled with the bodyguards' boisterous laughter.

In the next room, West was in agony.

Marjorie had stripped down to her lingerie and was getting closer and closer. West felt himself slipping.

“Don’t come near me! Get away! Get away!” West struggled to his feet, his body trembling as he leaned against the wall, trying to make a break for the door.

But the doorway was still several feet away. He knew the guards were gone; if he could just move fast enough, he might have a chance.

Marjorie was oblivious to his thoughts. Seeing the dazed look in his eyes and the flush on his cheeks, she thought he was the most handsome, most perfect man in the world.

“West, look at me. It’s me, your Marjorie. I haven’t changed at all. Look at me!”

They had grown up together. She was certain she still held a place in his heart.
