Natalie was getting anxious, too. West never stayed out overnight, and he always told the family if he had business to attend to. He’d never just disappeared like this.
In a panic, Natalie suddenly remembered she could track his phone.
“Janina, give me a minute. I’ll see if I can find West’s location.”
Hanging up, she immediately pulled up the tracking software on her phone and found West’s signal in a place called Hazelwood Town, about twenty miles away.
She immediately sent the location to Janina.
When Janina saw the pin on the map, her heart skipped a beat.
What would West be doing in Hazelwood Town?
There was no time to waste. The three friends quickly got in a car to find him. For safety, Janina borrowed two of Ava’s bodyguards to go with them.
Since they had no idea why West was in Hazelwood Town, more people meant more security.
Janina also told Natalie that if she didn't call to say she was safe in half an hour, she should call the police immediately.
All Janina could do was hope that West had gone there just to clear his head and that nothing terrible had happened.
The night wind whipped past the car window, and Janina felt a chill that seemed to creep into every strand of her hair.
The deep autumn night was a breath away from winter.
Meanwhile, West was confronting Marjorie.
He was slumped against the wall, sitting on the floor, his entire body feeling bonelessly weak.
He looked at the woman before him, who seemed to have gone completely mad. “Can’t you see what you’re doing? You’re sick, but you can’t drag other people down with you. Think about your family. What will happen to your parents if you go off the deep end? Do you really want to see them heartbroken over you?”
Marjorie let out a self-deprecating laugh.
“Ha. They’re divorced. What family is there to speak of? I’ve already left them enough money to retire on. It’ll be enough for them to live out their years. It doesn’t matter if I’m not there. With money, they can hire caregivers. When they can’t walk anymore, they can go to a nursing home. At least they won’t be hungry or cold.”
