Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 314

Just hearing Clark's name was enough to make Marjorie's stomach turn. She forced down the unease rising in her throat.

"He went home with his parents, obviously. I wasn't feeling well, so I came back."

Abigail placed a box of expensive gourmet chocolates she had just bought on the table. Completely oblivious to her daughter's distress, she assumed the meeting with Clark's parents had gone well.

She opened the box. "It's good that he went back. The sooner you two set a wedding date, the sooner I can rest easy. Here, have some chocolates. I bought it especially for you."

Marjorie had no appetite.

She usually loved chocolates, but now it only reminded her of Clark, making her feel even more agitated.

"I just ate. I'm not hungry. You have it," she said dismissively.

Hearing that, Abigail didn't press her. The truth was, she had bought the chocolates for herself, assuming her daughter would be home late.

Today was a good day.

Her daughter would soon marry into a wealthy family.

And as for herself...

A smile spread across Abigail's face as she pulled on a pair of disposable gloves. "I have something to tell you. Your father and I are divorced. We finalized it this morning."

Marjorie's head snapped up. "You—what did you say? You and Dad are divorced?"

Abigail knew her daughter would have a hard time accepting it, which was why she hadn't said anything sooner. Her divorce from Jarvis Sullivan wouldn't have gone so smoothly otherwise.

"That's right. But don't be too sad. Even though we're divorced, we're still your parents. Your father is still your father, and I'm still your mother. You'll always be our baby. Nothing about that will change."

Abigail chattered on, completely missing the dark storm gathering on Marjorie's face.
