Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 309

The call ended quickly. Clark emerged from the bedroom with a wide, cheerful grin.

It seemed his conversation with his parents had gone well.

Marjorie kept her expression neutral, waiting for him to speak.

Sure enough, the moment he sat down, he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, his voice light and tender. "I'm taking you to see my parents tomorrow. My mom said that as long as I get my act together, she'll give me another chance. They won't interfere with our relationship, and they even want us to get married soon."

Marjorie's mood finally lifted. Her face softened as she asked, a little uncertainly, "Really? Your mom really said you could bring me home?"

Clark tightened his arm around her. "Would I lie to you? My mom's pregnant, about to give me a little brother. She doesn't have the energy to deal with me anymore. She'd rather I get married quickly to make room for her new son."

The words were casual, but they struck Marjorie. "Your mother's pregnant at her age? That's…"

"I know, right? I don't know what they're thinking, messing around like this instead of enjoying their retirement. But hey, this means we need to step up our game too. If we have a kid soon, we can still get a piece of the inheritance."

Clark was already scheming, oblivious to the vicious plan that had just flashed through Marjorie's mind.

But the thought was fleeting.

"Well, then we should go out tomorrow and buy some gifts. Meeting your parents is a serious matter. I should tell my mom, too."

With her spirits finally restored, a smile returned to Marjorie's face.

Clark squeezed her hand. "Why bring gifts to your own family? You don't need to buy anything. My parents will be happy just to see you."
