After Finch left, Wendy patted her flushed cheeks and picked up her phone. She opened her group chat with her best friends and shared the day's events.
Instantly, the chat exploded.
Janina Holt: [Are you sure it's your ankle you twisted? Sounds like you twisted your way right into his heart. Girl, don't fall too fast. Observe for a while.]
Having been burned in love once before, Janina was cautious about rushing into things with a man, especially one she didn't know well. Her protective advice was understandable, given Wendy's gentle nature and lack of dating experience.
Maggie: [Our Wendy is finally blooming! You two were in a room together all this time and nothing happened? We're adults, you don't need to overthink things. If you like him, just go for it.]
Wendy Clifford: [No, nothing like that. It's not even a sure thing yet. I feel a spark with him, or at least I don't mind him being close.]
Janina: [Woman, you're falling in love. If he's a good guy, lock it down. We're waiting for that wedding invitation.]
Maggie: [Bring him out to meet us sometime. We'll vet him for you.]
Wendy Clifford: [I've only felt this spark for a day, it's way too soon for that. Besides, I don't even know if he's interested in me.]
Janina: [Based on how he treated you today, he's definitely interested. Who would be that attentive to a complete stranger?]
Maggie: [Nina's right. You could strike while the iron is hot, or you could observe a little longer. But you're both adults. Even if something did happen, it wouldn't be a big deal...]
The group chat was buzzing. Melody Leigh, on a break from filming, even joined the conversation.
They chatted until Wendy's phone was about to die, and the group finally quieted down.
Wendy found her charger in her bag and plugged her phone in.
Then, she went to the bathroom to give herself a quick wash.
She had just finished and changed into her pajamas when there was a series of urgent knocks at the door.
