Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 226

"What am I laughing at you about? I'm living my own life. What goes on in yours doesn't concern me," Grace shot back.

Abigail was furious. She had clearly heard Grace talking about her family.

"I heard you! You have the guts to say it but not the guts to admit it! My Marjorie is a hundred times better than your two daughters. You have the nerve to laugh at me? Take a look at your own family's situation."

Abigail grew more and more agitated, pointing at Grace. "Who do you think you are, talking about me? What are you so proud of?"

Grace was getting angry too. "When was I ever proud?"

"I saw it clearly!"

With people like Abigail, arguing only makes them more relentless. Janina tugged on Grace's arm. "Mom, let's just go home."

Trying to reason with a madwoman was not only a waste of breath, but it also lowered your own standing.

Ethan stepped in front of his wife and daughter, glaring at Abigail. "Let's go home."

Seeing Janina and Ethan's dismissive attitude, Abigail's anger boiled over. She pointed at Janina and started screaming.

"You have the nerve to judge me? Look at yourself, pregnant with some bastard child, and you don't even know who the father is! You're probably some old man's mistress. Grace, all this good fortune you have now, you got it by selling your daughter. And you still have the gall to flaunt it in front of me..."

Slap! Slap!

Grace raised her hand and struck Abigail across the face twice.

She'd never held a grudge, never yelled, and certainly never laid a hand on anyone in her life.

Maybe it was because she seemed like an easy mark that Abigail and Genevieve always tried to push her around.

Some people are just mean-spirited. They can't stand seeing you do well. If you're down, they look down on you. If you're up, they resent you.

Abigail was exactly that kind of person.

Abigail touched her reddening cheek, let out a howl, and lunged toward Grace.
