A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 718

Gabriel wasn't lying.

For the past two days, as Fairfax systematically dismantled his own life and ordered Gabriel to finalize the transfers, the sheer, suffocating darkness rolling off him was terrifying. If Fairfax didn't speak, Gabriel didn't dare breathe a word.

"Where is he?" Starla demanded.

"The last time I saw him was at 5:00 AM. At Spiral Cove."

"Are you telling me he jumped into the ocean?" Starla's voice dropped to a lethal whisper.

Jumped into the ocean? Probably not.

"I don't know. That was just the last time I saw him."

"So you have no idea where he is right now?"

"Correct."

"Aren't you going back to him?"

"Delivering those documents today was my final task. Mr. Yelchin informed me that my employment was officially terminated as of this morning."

With Yelchin Group gone, Gabriel's job was gone too.

So Fairfax had fired his most trusted aide at dawn on a beach? Starla gripped her phone so hard her knuckles turned white. "Who is with him right now?"

"I don't know."

'I don't know.'

Gabriel was usually an encyclopedia of information. This total lack of intel was unprecedented.

Furious, Starla hurled her phone across the room. It slammed into the plush carpet with a heavy thud, perfectly echoing her current mood.

Garret flinched slightly. In all the time he'd worked for her, he'd never seen her lose her temper like this.
