A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 681

"Three days!"

Hearing that timeline, Xenia's face lit up with vicious glee. "It's over. It's all finally going to be over."

In the past, the mere mention of the word 'over' would have been enough to drag Brinley into the conversation. But now, as Darleen and Xenia celebrated their impending victory, she sat there without a single reaction.

It wasn't that she didn't care.

It was because she knew all too well that things were never that simple. She had a sinking feeling that this whole situation with Kael Shipley wasn't going to play out the way Darleen and Xenia thought it would.

It was exactly like their earlier assumptions about Herbert Farley. They had been so convinced that Xenia was vastly superior to Starla, to the point of plotting to seduce Herbert away from her. And what had been the result? Nothing but utter humiliation for both of them.

To this day, Darleen hadn't even been allowed to meet the elders of the Farley family. They hadn't deemed her worthy of their time.

So, when they excitedly declared that this Mrs. Shipley would end everything, Brinley chose to remain silently detached.

Meanwhile, Darleen and Xenia's chatter only grew more animated.

"Does this mean we don't have to do those awful chores tomorrow?" Xenia asked, her eyes wide with hope.

"Don't be stupid!" Darleen scolded lightly. "It takes time for Mrs. Shipley to travel here. What, do you plan on starving until she arrives?"

It was an international flight, after all.

Xenia nodded in realization. "Good point. I guess we can stomach that bitch for a few more days!"

"Exactly. Just grit your teeth and endure it. We've only got three days left at most!"
