"Come on, don't play coy. You can't seriously be clueless about all of this, can you?"
Sophie said, "Getting plastic surgery to look like you isn't just a walk in the park. It takes at least a month to bounce back. You were their handpicked favorite, the only fit in all of Summerfield is the Elliott family. Every move I made was part of your scheme—clearing out The Silent Shadows' lowlifes, dealing with Kiran's overseas influence… If The Silent Shadows were so ahead of the game, even predicting I'd pick Elliott, wouldn't it have been tidier for them to off you and Elliott together? Why keep you around? They had the memorial all set up, and Spencer was in mourning gear before I even showed up. Why didn't they just finish the job and slit your throat? Isn't it fishy? Keeping the main act alive—were they banking on me to uncover this and blow their cover?"
Sophie's reasoning was rock solid, leaving no room for argument.
Even Robert's face started to change.
"Don't tell me, your boss only gave you faith and forgot to hand out brains."
Sophie relaxed back into the couch.
Whoever dreamed up this harebrained scheme—it's a head-scratcher.
Sophie pointed at Spencer first, "If I'm on the money, you're The Silent Shadows' sacrificial pawn. You'd stay tight-lipped if caught, opting for suicide, making me trust the guy next to you… Master Robert, right? Maybe you don't even know the whole plot. I should have directed my question to Master Robert."
Sophie asked seriously, "Robert, what message did The Silent Shadows want you to pass on? Was it to lure me into shady dark web deals, stir up a scandal, or just land me in jail? Or maybe cozy up to me, earn my trust, and then pull a sympathy move to sneak into Aldridge Estate, asking Odie for what you really want?"
If Robert had any hope left, it vanished as Sophie laid bare all their plans, leaving him looking more rattled.
Sophie asked casually, "Honestly, this plan can't be one of The Silent Shadows' originals, can it?"
