Feeling something was off, Elodie opened her eyes and saw Griffin standing right next to her. It felt like she’d been caught red-handed in something scandalous.
“Ms. Reeves, are you okay? Why did you go quiet all of a sudden?” Sophie was reclining in a massage chair, eyes shut, relaxing. Just moments ago, she’d been raving to Elodie about how great the service was, and then, silence.
“Ms. Sophie, enjoying the massage?” Colby's voice cut through the quiet from the side.
Sophie's eyes popped open. She turned to find Colby behind her, giving her a shoulder massage, and for a moment, she held her breath.
“Co-Colby…”
“Is the massage up to your standards?” Colby asked again.
Sophie shot a glance at Elodie, who was looking down, pretending she hadn’t seen a thing.
With a sigh, Sophie said, “We’re just doing some market research.”
“Market research…” Colby raised an eyebrow. “And what have you found out?”
“I’ve discovered…” Sophie looked at Elodie again for backup.
Elodie was ready with her response, “We’ve discovered a lot, like how services like these really draw in customers. Honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a handsome guy? It definitely encourages us women to spend. We can find a little happiness here!”
As soon as she finished talking, Elodie noticed the men's expressions darkening.
Sophie quickly chimed in, “But really, we didn’t find it all that enjoyable. Ms. Reeves here looked like she was sitting on pins and needles just a moment ago.”
“Really…” Griffin joined in, “But I noticed you struggling to hide a smile just now.”
“I... I was smiling because it hurt,” Elodie added. “This batch of masseurs isn’t very skilled. It was a bit painful. Maybe we should just head home for a massage?”
With that, Elodie stood up, ready to drag Griffin away from this awkward scene.
