“From now on, Daniella can’t spend more than seven thousand dollars a month. If any of you cover her extra spending, you’ll pay me back. No one in this house is allowed to spend money on her anymore,” Gabriel said, then walked away.

The living room was a mess. Christian held Daniella in his arms and comforted her softly, “Dani, it’s okay. Whatever you want, I’ll buy it for you.”

“Chris, just listen to your dad. Dani really needs to learn how to manage money properly. And the Gibson family never mistreated her. Even when Abigail came back, the family never treated her unfairly,” Bianca said.

She’d felt chilled tonight listening to Daniella complain about the family.

She had never treated Daniella as a tool. Bianca had spent so much money raising Daniella, and though she hoped Daniella would bring benefits to the family if she married into a wealthy household, her life would still be good.

When Daniella saw the coldness on Bianca’s face, she panicked and reached for Bianca’s pant leg.

Bianca said, “Dani, you blame us–the Gibsons–for treating you like a tool. I admit, I really wasn’t kind to Abigail. That’s because I saw you as my daughter.”

She continued, “Every time you got upset and wanted one of her little toys, I always gave in to you.”

She looked at Daniella with a frown and said, “I knew you did all those awful things, but I still begged on your behalf. I even knelt to Abigail for your shares. But you turned around and accused us so harshly in front of her.

“If I really saw you as just a tool, would I have spent that much money on you? The day your dad slapped me, that was because of you.

“But you just hid in your room, and the next morning, when you saw the bruise on my face, you didn’t even ask a thing.

“You only cared about whether you could go back to Abigail’s room, and whether you could keep getting all that pocket money.”

At that moment, Bianca realized a lot. She understood that Daniella had never truly cared about her as a mother.

Before, she’d only felt disappointed and kept telling herself Daniella was just spoiled. But now she finally understood–Daniella was simply selfish.

Bianca’s words made Daniella burst into tears. She reached out, clinging to Bianca’s leg and sobbing, “I only said all that because I was too upset!”

Bianca calmly replied, “But you meant what you said. No matter what I’ve been through, all you ever do is say the right words–you’ve never truly cared. Even spending five more minutes of your time on me is too much for you.”

“I’ve done countless things to hurt Abigail for your sake, and in your eyes, I’m just someone using you?” Bianca gave a bitter laugh, her tone filled with disappointment and sadness.

“Abby, everything tonight must’ve been hard on you. You should go back to your room,” Wyatt said. He was exhausted now too.

He thought that the Gibson family turning out like this was his fault. He hadn’t raised Gabriel right, and Gabriel in turn hadn’t raised the three kids right either.

By all logic, Daniella had grown up in Gibson Villa. Even if Abigail came back and made her feel uneasy, she shouldn’t have turned out this cruel.

But in order to suppress Abigail, Daniella had hit someone with a car and faked depression. She’d timed it perfectly to have Abigail thrown in jail right after her eighteenth birthday. The careful planning of it all made Wyatt’s skin crawl.

He couldn’t understand how a girl who had been loved by the entire Gibson family could turn out to be this vicious.

Daniella panicked when Bianca walked away. She thought her mom would love her no matter what she did. After all, Bianca had once promised that Daniella was her only daughter.

“Mom, Mom!” she cried, trying to chase after Bianca. Christian held her tightly. He watched her cry and scream with everything she had, and he felt deeply disappointed too.
