It was an understatement to say that Xavia was drowning in grief and agony after her grandmother’s death. Honestly, she could’ve just cried and cried till she passed out… but she refrained. Instead, she simply forced a smile as she kowtowed thrice before her grandmother’s grave… The last thing Xavia wanted was for her grandmother’s spirit to see how sad she was…
Following that, she was helped down the mountain… and once they were at the bottom, Xavia told Stefan to bring her over to Yulia.
On their way there, Stefan couldn’t help but worriedly say, “…I’ll be honest, you don’t look like you’re in good shape… Are you sure you don’t want to get some rest first…?”
“It’s fine. I’ll be leaving for Darlsbury right after I visit Yulia,” replied Xavia, much to Stefan’s surprise.
“You’re… heading back there?” asked Stefan, prompting Xavia to nod.
“I know you don’t believe me, and that you were only comforting me when you said you wanted to help before, but… I assure you that Grandma would never lie to me. I heard her say with my very own ears… that Jenna was the one who had pushed her. This entire incident is more complex than it seems, Stefan… I… I need to head back and find out the truth. Only then will Grandma be able to rest in peace…” replied Xavia.
“…Come to think of it, isn’t it a bit too coincidental that the medical team needed to return to S City right after your grandmother had just completed her operation? That was already a red flag at the time, and the fact that we got involved in a car accident shortly after… I refuse to believe that all this is just a coincidence! With that said, I’m coming with you, Xavia!” declared Dolly.
Dolly’s statement caused Stefan to look at the two with a profound gaze. It took him a while, but he eventually said, “…I can arrange for a plane for you two, but before you leave, I need you two to at least conduct a simple investigation…”
Nodding in response, Xavia then replied, “Thank you, Mr. Talton…”
…Even after so long, she still liked to thank him, huh? After his gaze darkened slightly, he ended up muttering, “…No worries.”
As promised, an investigation was soon launched… and before long, they received results.
