Trying his hardest to remain calm, Zivon then said, “…I’ve never tolerated anyone else this much before… With that said, have you truly thought things through…?! You know, if you reject me one more time-”
“Young Master Burton! I’ve said time and again that my mind’s made up! We’re nothing more than strangers from now on!” interrupted Xavia before pushing him aside and fleeing the scene…!
Watching as she scurried off, Zivon’s expression turned as frigid as a glacier… and shortly after, he slammed his fists against the table in frustration…! In the end, his arms were covered in blood-red veins…
Moving back to Xavia, she wasn’t quite sure how she had managed to escape that hulking man… though she was at least sure of one thing. And that was the fact that Zivon’s tolerance and devotion toward her were near otherworldly.
That man simply had the capability to feel like an extremely fluffy cloud, one that could easily trap unwary people inside, leaving them breathless and unable to escape… But whatever the case was, the point remained that Xavia now knew that she truly wasn’t worthy of him…
Upon regrouping with Dolly, Dolly was quick to ask, “Xavia? Are you alright? What did Young Master Burton say? I hadn’t expected him to suddenly show up after you ended things with him!”
…Oh, he definitely wouldn’t ever appear before her again… After all, she knew that her decision earlier was the last straw, even for a man like him… Knowing that she had put him through so much pain made Xavia feel like her heart was being clenched by an invisible hand… and after a while, Xavia replied, “…Just… forget about him… Let’s not mention him anymore…”
Her reply left Dolly speechless. After all, it was evident that Young Master Burton had saved her without a second thought earlier since he still loved her! When the two walked off, Dolly had felt that there’d still be hope for the two… Now, however, it seemed like the situation had gotten much, much worse…
Fast forward to a few hours later, the door to the operation hall opened… and when the doctor saw Xavia, he was prompted to say, “Congratulations, miss. Your grandmother’s surgery was a success. We’ll still need to put her under observation for a while, though.”
…H-her grandmother’s surgery was a success…! Simply pleased to receive such good news during such depressing times, the excited Xavia exclaimed, “T-thank you, doctor…! Thank you so much…!”
“There’s no need to thank me… Either way, your grandmother may be able to open her eyes after tonight, and if her recovery goes smoothly, she may even be able to talk. With that said, please head back and get some rest first, Miss. You’ll need the energy to spend time with her tomorrow…” replied the doctor who knew that Xavia hadn’t eaten or slept well since the previous day.
“…Alright. Thank you again, doctor…” said Xavia.
