It was around seven the next day when Zivon—who was accompanying the kids for breakfast—said in a rather distant tone, “I want you to bring Yulia over to your aunt later, Maison. I need to head to the office early, so you’ll need to handle your transportation to school as well.”
Sensing how aloof his father sounded, Maison frowned slightly before asking, “Don’t you like Aunt, Daddy…? Why don’t you send us over instead? That way, you’ll be able to meet her…”
Raising a slight brow, Zivon then replied in a rather condescending tone, “And when have I ever said I liked her?”
Maison shivered slightly when he heard how icy his father’s words were. Even so, he shook his fear off before saying, “…Well, weren’t you being sweet with Aunt back when we were having hotpot together…? You even told Aunt that you were good at a lot of things, and that you wanted to show her your skills one day… Don’t you remember…?”
Upon hearing that, Yulia—who had spaghetti sauce all over her lips—looked up at Zivon before adding, “I remember that too, Uncle Zivon… Does that mean that you no longer love her…?”
With how witty the two were, Zivon couldn’t help but wonder why they weren’t siblings.
Regardless, after a brief pause, he coldly replied, “…You kids know nothing. Now finish up your breakfast and head to school.”
Following that, Zivon got up and left, prompting the puzzled children to exchange glances.
“…I wonder if their relationship is truly unmendable…” muttered Maison.
“I’m not sure… I’ll ask Mommy when I meet her... Speaking of Mommy, I really miss her!” exclaimed Yulia as she put her now-empty plate aside before running toward Maison to drag him to the North Court…
It didn’t take long for both of them to arrive there, and even before they got to Keith’s home, Yulia was already yelling, “Mommy…! Mommy…?”
Hartley was quick to hear the child’s yells, and he quickly ran out to say, “Young Lady and Young Master! I’m sorry, but Miss Lockhart and Young Master Keith have already headed to work early this morning… Don’t worry, they’ll be picking you up after school.”
“…Huh? Mommy’s already left…?” muttered Yulia, clearly disappointed to hear that.
Maison was upset as well. However, he didn’t want to look immature before the girl, so he simply held onto her hand before comforting, “…If Aunt’s gone to work, that clearly means she’s fine, so don’t worry about her… Besides, she’ll meet you later in the afternoon, and that’s quite soon when you think about it! Be a good girl and have this candy…”
