Thank god none of that was real…
Unfortunately for Xavia, her relief was short-lived when she realized that she was still in the detention center! She was still going to face a life sentence, so everything she had dreamed had a chance of really happening! No! She didn’t want to spend decades in prison! She didn’t want Yulia to be an orphan either!
Now anxious out of her mind, she began slamming on the door while yelling, “P-please…! I was merely acting in self-defense! I didn’t intend to commit murder! I need a lawyer…! Please, let me out…!”
“What on earth are you going on about… He was clearly trying to get the knife out of your hand… It was deterrent behavior. With that in mind, to think you have the nerve to claim that to be self-defense! His parents are asking for you to get the death penalty, you know? It’s impossible for you to appeal now…” muttered the guard, prompting Xavia to momentarily fall silent.
The other party was trying to stop her…? But things were clearly not as they seemed! With that, Xavia retorted, “Mike is lying…! He tried to rape me, you know?! I-”
“That’s enough. It’s impossible to free you unless the king is here…”
…The king? At that moment, Xavia fell silent as she racked her brains to think of a capable person within Darlsbury… That’s right, Stefan. Stefan would surely be able to help her leave!
“Please, let me call Chairman Talton. I beg of you! My daughter is still out there alone! I need to call him so that he can give my daughter an account of the situation…! If you refuse, I’ll continue making a racket!” declared Xavia in a determined tone.
By this point, the other inmates surrounding Xavia’s cell couldn’t help but call out, “Look, just give her the call so we can get some sleep!”
“Don’t you have a conscience? What’s wrong with letting her make a call?!”
“Are prisoners not people? She’s still a mother, you know!”
Upon hearing all that, the officer grumbled, “Fine, she gets the call! Pipe down already!”
Shortly after, a ‘click’ could be heard, followed by the peephole creaking open. Looking out, Xavia saw the officer’s serious face as he asked, “Give me his number.”
