Regardless, it was around noon when they finally returned to the cabin, and upon seeing Neal who was still on the bed, Fabiola quickly walked up to him and said, “Hey, Neal… We got you some food.”
Watching as Fabiola placed the food on the table, Neal took a moment to ask, “…You spent the night with him last night?”
Before Fabiola could reply, Hanley said, “Oh, that wasn’t the first time, that’s for sure…”
Glowering at Hanley, Neal growled, “Are you taunting me…?!”
“Is there a problem with that? Remember, she is my wife now, and you’re the actual person who’s in the way. Know your place.”
Though Neal really wanted to snap back, he knew that he was in no position to. Still, just thinking about how close the two must have gotten last night hurt immensely…
Not wanting a fight to break out, Fabiola quickly cleared her throat before saying, “…A-anyway, go eat for now… You’ll need the energy for later when we descend the mountain.”
Watching as Fabiola quickly pulled Hanley out of the room, Neal couldn’t help but clench his fists. To think that she was now more worried about him hurting Hanley’s feelings… What a time to be alive… Bah! So be it! He knew deep down that that flowery man had an ulterior motive, and whatever it was, he was going to make sure to seek the truth!
Fast forward to much later, Fabiola and Hanley arrived in Darlsbury once more… But shortly after entering the car, Hanley received a call that instantly made him frown.
“…I have some urgent things to attend to. Would you like to come with me?”
Though reluctant, Fabiola replied, “As much as I’d love to watch you work, I know you’re really busy… Plus, I want to give these souvenirs to my brothers and sister first, so I’ll catch you later!”
