Squinting slightly when she heard that, it took her a while to reply, “…It’s not as easy as that. I was serious when I said that I no longer wanted to marry you.”
Pursing his lips, Neal then said, “…Alright, assuming you truly do like him… I still have a right to be your friend then, right? With that said, cut the politeness…”
Upon hearing that, Fabiola simply lowered her gaze and began eating her cake, causing Neal to frown a little. Though dejected, he reminded himself that this was how he had always treated her back then… and if she could wait for him for so long before giving up, then he was going to make sure that he did the same!
Fast forward to a few days later, Fabiola was invited to the nineteenth Aplos Swimming Competition, one of the greatest swimming competitions in the country. Anyone who won would then represent the country in the international rounds in hopes of bringing Aplos greater glory. Knowing that, Fabiola took a deep breath before agreeing to participate…
On the day of the event, the smartly-dressed judges and coaches could be seen sitting in their designated booths, whereas the fans were going wild with several of the audience members lifting banners that wrote, ‘You’re the best, Princess Fabiola!’ and, ‘Go, Go, Fabiola!’
Fabiola herself had a confident look on her face. After all, though she had never excelled in academics, she aced in sports like this!
It wasn’t long after before the starting whistle was heard… and just like that, Fabiola was gliding through the water with the grace of a mermaid! After effortlessly making it past the other swimmers, she reached the hundred-meter mark… and by the time she got back to where she started, she left almost everyone shocked. After all, it had only taken her forty-five seconds to complete the lap! That was on par with international swimmers!
As the audience went wild with cheer, Fabiola couldn’t help but beam. She loved swimming, and thanks to that, she was able to finally let go of all the unhappiness plaguing her heart in the past few days…
