Naturally, his question startled her. Looking into his eyes, Xavia eventually muttered, “You… knew, Stefan…?”
“I do,” replied Stefan. Out of worry, Stefan had made Anthony investigate Xavia’s whereabouts as he made his way to Darlsbury. Because of that, it was only a matter of time before he found out the truth, and the truth made him very displeased.
“Why didn’t you tell me about such a major incident? Do you not treat me as your boyfriend? Or perhaps you don’t think I’m capable enough to help you settle things?” added Stefan who was honestly more distressed than angry by this point.
Pursing her lips, Xavia softly replied, “…I’m… sorry… I just didn’t want you to make you worry or trouble you…”
“…And who else am I to worry about if not for my girlfriend…?” said Stefan who simply couldn’t wait for her to ask him for help. Still, with how apologetic and filled with self-reproach she looked, Stefan couldn’t bring himself to say anything else.
Instead, he simply embraced her once more while adding in a warm, and gentle voice, “…Either way, I’m here now… And I won’t allow you to suffer any more grievances… My woman shouldn’t be reduced to nothing but a replacement!”
Sensing his great conviction, Xavia couldn’t help but feel touched. It was at that moment when she recalled Mark stating, ‘I’m here now, and I won’t let you suffer any further grievances…’
Apart from Mark saying such words to her when she was younger, nobody but Stefan had said things like this to Xavia in her adulthood. Shaking the thought off, Xavia then sniffled as she asked, “…Can… you really help me with this…?”
Raising a slight brow, Stefan replied, “Hmm? Don’t you trust me? Or perhaps you simply don’t wish to leave Zivon’s side…?”
As if Zivon could even come close to comparing to him! Immediately grabbing onto Stefan’s arms, Xavia then yelled, “No way in hell! You have no idea just how much I want all this to be dealt with so that I can be done with that person! Just so you know, I’ve never met a scummier person than him!”
Normally, when one spoke loudly, it was either because the speaker was extremely sure of the fact, or they were feeling guilty… And Xavia’s response had been pretty loud. Though he couldn’t exactly tell which it was, Stefan ended up holding onto her small hands as he said, “…Alright. Either way, let’s get you some lunch first. You can leave the rest to me…”
Fast forward to eight that night, Xavia had yet to return to Zivon’s dimly lit villa…
