If she were to get hurt because of this matter, she and Zivon would feel guilty for the rest of their lives.
Ellen calmly said, “It's better to have as many people helping as possible. I'm also better at extracting useful information through hypnosis. As long as we find specific clues, Young Master Burton can find Fabiola and reunite her with you. I’m very excited to see that happen!”
Jacob frowned and said, “If that’s the case, I’ll go with you.”
Ellen gave him an astonished look, and as she was going to say something, he explained. “Since you’re trying to help, The Frankstons should be responsible for your safety.”
Xavia quickly nodded her head. “That’s right, let's do that. Otherwise, I’d be worried about you being alone.”
Ellen pursed her lips exasperatedly. “Fine.”
The next day, Ellen and Jacob headed to the Golden Bay pier. Once they disembarked from the boat, they went directly to an old man's home.
Upon arriving, Ellen learned that the old man lived by the dock, and he knew everything that had happened there. It would be best to look for clues from him. When they arrived, the old man had just collected his net and returned. He was old, had a hunch back, and was busy bringing the fish he had caught onto the shore.
Ellen hurriedly went forward with Jacob to help him. After the old man was done with his errands, they followed the old man into the less windy cabin and politely asked him. “Nice to meet you, sir. We want to ask you something…”
“This child accidentally lost her way around here. Have you seen her?” She took out Fabiola’s photo.
The old man rubbed his eyes, looked at the adorable child, and said, “Someone came to ask about this girl two days ago.”
Two days ago? It must have been Zivon.
Ellen said, “And? Is there anything you can tell us?”
The old man shook his head. “I’ve seen this girl before, but I’m old and useless. I can’t remember the last time I saw her. Besides, I might have just seen her on the television.”
Before Ellen could say anything, Jacob raised his voice. “Sir, please think harder. This is especially important for us. If you remember anything, we’ll reward you greatly.”
The old man sighed and patted his own head. “I’d really like to help, but I can’t recall anything.”
“You…”
“It’s alright.” Ellen pulled Jacob away slightly and whispered. “The old man has a bad memory. The more pressure you give him, the more he won’t remember anything. I’ll hypnotize him.”
