The doctor immediately rushed over to examine Ellen, then said, “Her body temperature is 39.9 degrees. She has a high fever. She probably fainted due to prolonged exertion combined with a cold, which turned into an acute cold.”

Jacob frowned.

Ellen was sick because she helped Xavia.

His eyes dimmed, and guilt welled up inside him as he watched the doctor put Ellen on an IV drip and place a fever patch on her forehead. After the doctor left, he stayed by her bedside and monitored her body temperature.

Half an hour later, her body temperature, which had just decreased slightly, increased once again. Jacob immediately fetched a basin of water, wrung the towel, and put it on Ellen’s forehead. After that, he went to look for some medicine to cool her down physically.

It took several hours, along with the medication, for Ellen’s body temperature to finally return to normal. However, she still seemed weak and had no signs of waking up.

Jacob called the doctor to check on her again. “Is there any problem?”

“Don’t worry. She passed out due to a lack of sleep and a high fever. When her body can function normally, she will wake up.”

So, that was the case. He had never seen a woman with a fever so much worse than a man!

Jacob frowned as he continued to worry about Ellen's health and stayed by her side without moving an inch. He accompanied her till the following day.

When Ellen opened her eyes, she saw Jacob sleeping by the bed. He seemed tired and haggard. There was a basin of water beside him and the towel still on her forehead.

She slowly took off the towel. When she moved, Jacob woke up instantly.

When Ellen woke up, he was finally relieved and immediately alerted the doctor.

After examining Ellen, the doctor said, “The fever has gone down, but be careful not to expose yourself too much to the cold for the next two days. You should also eat your medicine on time, or you might catch a cough that will last a while."

Jacob then remembered that Ellen was asleep last night and he couldn’t feed her the medication, so she had not eaten it.

“Take your medication,” He said as he walked to her with her medication and passed it to Ellen.
