Disliking the idea of making the long trip home and back again the next morning, Ellen figured that she may as well just rent one of the beds in the next room. With that, she got her phone out and was just about to order some takeout when all of a sudden…

Jacob entered the ward again and said, “Here, got you some dinner.”

From the looks of it, he had bought her pasta, some salad, and even Foie Gras… All food considered local to her. He had taken her preferences into consideration as well?

Since she wasn’t saying anything, Jacob added, “What’s with that look? I just didn’t want you getting an upset stomach from eating non-native food…”

Though Ellen started feeling that maybe he wasn’t all that bad after all, her hopes were shattered when she heard him say, “Anyway, I only got all this for you for my family’s sake, so don’t overthink things. If you do, I have no issue with tossing everything into the bin.”

“…As if I’d ever overthink when it comes to a blunt man like you,” scoffed the irked Ellen as she began eating without another word…

Despite Jacob’s nasty words, she had to admit that he did a fine job at choosing her meal… After all, it was delectable, and deep down, she knew that the meal was probably chosen carefully for her sake… Did this man have multiple personalities or something?

Moving back to Xavia, she was already starting to worry since she hadn’t heard anything from the duo ever since that morning… Could something have gone wrong?

Getting more worried the more she thought about it, she ended up heading to the hospital… and upon arriving, she was greeted by the sight of both of them looking rather apprehensive…

Pursing her lips, she was prompted to ask, “H-how did everything go…?”

Looking up, Ellen was quick to reply, “Ah… We only made a bit of progress, though we’re already planning our next move too. Have patience…”
