After hesitating briefly, Xavia took a deep breath before picking up and saying, “…Hello?”
“If anyone calls asking about the news, just politely decline them. I’ll handle the rest,” replied Zivon who’s attractively low voice sounded just as captivating through the phone. Despite the havoc online, he sounded oddly calm and composed.
Xavia, for one, had anticipated that he was going to be a complete mess as he asked for her cooperation to put on an act. This… was far simpler than she could have ever anticipated. He truly had a royal air around him…
Whatever the case was, Xavia simply said, “…Not to worry, I still have a little professional ethics, so I won’t say anything unnecessary. Honestly, I was just about to post a status update to clarify the situation.”
Zivon was honestly slightly surprised to hear that. However, he quickly shook the feeling off as he replied, “There’s no need to do so. Regardless, I’m a bit busy, so I’ll be hanging up first.”
Before Xavia could reply, Zivon had already hung up. She absolutely wasn’t expecting such a reply. Hadn’t she just told him that she was willing to help clarify the situation? Why was he being this indifferent? It wasn’t as though she had stated that she wanted to defame him or anything…
As she thought about it, she quickly realized why all this was happening. Of course. After making everything clear that day, it only made sense for Zivon—who had high emotional intelligence and self-esteem—to not want anything to do with her anymore.
Then again, scumbags like him were most proficient at retreating and withdrawing, so this shouldn’t even have come as a surprise. The second he found out that it was impossible to attain something, it was only natural for him to give up on it. Why waste time on her when he could just move onto another target? Alas, men would always be men. Quick to tease women, and even quicker to give up.
Still, this was honestly pretty ideal for her. After all, no longer would he attempt to control or ‘harass’ her…
Just thinking about how he had forced her to apologize to Fiona that day made her heart sting...
