“I don’t think anyone could make him feel better right now… After all, nobody would feel fine for a long while after the death of a close family member… However, even though I believe that we can’t help at all, I know that time will eventually mend his broken heart…”
Alas, though Ian really felt sorry for that usually all-powerful man, he knew that Jovan was right. With that, he shook his head before saying, “…Alright, you can leave for now.”
“Very well, Sir Ian. Please be sure to get sufficient rest,” replied Jovan before turning to leave.
Once the door had closed behind Jovan, Ian couldn’t help but stare at the image of Zivon kneeling by his mother’s corpse… Despite being the same prestigious man whom everyone knew and loved, he simultaneously looked like he had the burden of several planets on his back… Was there even a way for him to help such a defeated man…?
Either way, it started raining from dawn, and even though it continued pouring past noon, it didn’t seem like it was going to stop anytime soon… The weather was just as gloomy as Zivon was, the man who had been kneeling before Wendy’s corpse in the morgue for the past twenty hours…
He hadn’t allowed anyone to touch her body. After all, he wasn’t ready to part ways with her yet…
The deafening silence, however, was eventually broken when Liam suddenly said, “Little Brother, Stepmother will never rest in peace if you continue behaving this way… It’s better if you just set up her wake as soon as possible…”
Fighting the urge to punch Liam in the cheek, Nathan growled, “…Young Master Burton knows what to do, so you don’t have to say a word…! If you want to leave, feel free to do so…!”
Upon hearing that, Liam had to try his hardest not to smirk at how pathetic Zivon looked right now… and after a while, he managed to retain his ‘worried’ façade as he replied, “Look, I just don’t want the body to stiffen… Any longer and he’ll only make her corpse’s condition worse…”
Even Hershel was prompted to add, “He’s right. No matter how much you love her, it isn’t proper to leave her corpse unburied for this long.”
