Understandably perplexed by all this, all Ian could do was rub his temple. Was that really her reason for resigning…?
Unsure what to think, he was just about to give Jovan a call when Jenna suddenly entered the room and said, “Sir Ian, she quit because she likes you…”
Instantly frowning, it took Ian a while to reply, “…Impossible. Our relationship is strictly professional-”
“It’s exactly because you only treat her professionally that she’s finally decided to leave,” said Jenna with a chuckle, leaving Ian speechless.
If what she said was true, then… Well, he would’ve still had to decline in the end. After all, he didn’t have feelings for her, and he didn’t want to work with those who fancied him…
His train of thought was cut short when he heard Jenna add, “Consider thinking about your feelings after this, Sir Ian… That aside, since Lana isn’t willing to protect Xavia, please allow me to do so.”
Watching as Ian frowned in disapproval, Jenna clenched her fists before saying, “…I’ve learned quite a few martial arts in the Sacred Temple, and though I’m by no means a professional, I’m more than capable of handling regular people. Also, it takes one to know one, so I can easily see through the plans of any villains trying to harm her. With all that said, please allow me to stay by her side,” concluded Jenna with rather reasonable points.
To that, however, Ian simply scoffed, “You’re as much as a danger to her. Denied.”
