“So… How much longer does she have after giving her the dialysis and blood transfusion?”
After clearing his throat, one of the doctors replied, “Well… Thanks to the perfect donor that Sir Ian found for us, we can safely say that she can survive for up to five more days… If it extends past that, however… There’s a high chance that she’ll finally lose the battle. Though you could argue that the donor could donate more blood to extend that period, she’s already reached the limit of how much blood one can safely donate at a time…”
…So they needed to develop or find the antidote in five days, huh…? With a grim expression on his face, Zivon ultimately looked at Ian and asked, “…Any news regarding the search for the antidote?”
Sighing in response, Ian replied, “After asking Lana several times, she ultimately told me that nobody had seen the antidote in decades, and that it was safe to say that she probably wouldn’t ever be able to find it… Don’t worry, I’ll still try my best to see if I can get my hands on it. For Xavia’s sake…!”
Following that, Ian strode off, prompting Zivon to rub his temple with a sigh. It took him a while, but he eventually looked at one of the doctors before asking, “…Are the odds of finding the antidote that slim?”
Unsure how to even answer that, the doctors remained silent… and in the end, the irked Zivon replied, “…Don’t tell me we don’t have a backup plan…! We’re already unsure whether our version of the antidote will be created in time, and I’m not about to fail my ailing wife…!”
With how icy his voice was, the trembling doctors were quick to reply, “Y-Young Master Burton, you should know how much we’ve done while working on this project…! It’s already a miracle that we were able to extend her life for five more days!”
