“…What are you doing here?” asked the similarly confused Xavia. While she was grateful that he had saved her right in the nick of time, she wondered how he even knew that she was here.
Ian himself simply stood in front of Xavia before saying, “Listen closely. She’s my family’s savior, so none of you are to lay a finger on her…!”
“…Come again? Sir Ian, you must be mistaken! This woman is just a manipulative bitch, you know? How else could she cause trouble for both Young Master Burton and our dear Keith?! It’s simply unacceptable to continue letting her do as she pleases!”
“And you think the best way to do that is by killing her, right…?!” growled Ian, instantly prompting Helen to go pale.

Hershel himself then got up to say, “Sir Ian, our families have always been close, so you should know how reasonable we are whenever we handle things. Alas, this girl has not only charmed Zivon to the point where he refuses to reunite with us, but she’s even targeting Keith now! Just look at the news and you can see how everyone already thinks negatively of the Burtons! With that said, I think it’s high time we put an end to this by sending her away from Aplos!”
“While we’re on the topic, I’m sure you already know that Zivon and Miss Baun are more than just friends, Miss Lockhart. It’s clear that he still has feelings for her, and adding that to the fact that she has an actual social standing, our family would very much prefer if she was the one who married him! If you know what’s best for everyone, then just leave and we may even provide you with some compensation.”
“It’s not like staying will do you any good. Nothing good ever comes out of forced love,” concluded Hershel, prompting Xavia to clench her fists. Had Zivon not met up with her earlier, she’d surely have believed Hershel’s words. That aside…
