“Von had simply been caught off guard when you suddenly said that, which is why he had to head back to drink a bit to calm down. Don’t worry, I talked to him a bit, and I have a feeling that he now understands your point of view. With that said, he should be coming over soon.”
Eyes widening, Wendy replied, “R-really…? He can accept my decision?”
“He can, Madam,” said Xavia. Though Zivon hadn’t said that, she knew from experience that he was a very considerate man to those he cared about. With that in mind, there was a high chance that this was going to be the result anyway.
Regardless, Wendy heaved a sigh of relief as she replied, “That’s good… You should know that I only came back because I want a good ending to this relationship… At the end of the day, there was once a time when I loved Hershel with all my heart… What’s more, but doing this, I can prove that I’m not a homewrecker, and Zivon will no longer have to be an illegitimate son!”
“With all that said… I think Zivon should start taking Hershel and the other Burtons seriously. After all, he’s a grown man who’s about to marry. It would be absurd for him to fall out with his family now! The stalemate simply can’t go on any longer… With any luck, our family will be pieced together again, and you’ll be able to call Hershel and I, Dad and Mom…”
Being a mother herself, Xavia could understand where Wendy was coming from. Parents simply wanted the best for their children at all times. Even so, Xavia knew for a fact that it was going to be difficult for her to get along with Hershel…
Speaking of Hershel, he appeared shortly after. After giving her a long stare, he was prompted to say, “…Thank you so much for coming to visit us, Miss Lockhart. Do follow me to the study. I have a gift for you.”
