Since the Burtons were already making their move, he was pretty sure that Zivon would soon be disqualified. That man didn’t need to be taught any further lessons. With that, Ian took a deep breath before saying, “…You sure you shouldn’t be asking me to punch him harder instead?”
“Hah! If you even dare to do that, I’ll make sure to punch you alongside Von!” replied Xavia, leaving Ian momentarily speechless. Did she need to be so protective of Zivon? Would she still say the same once she found out that he was her brother?
His train of thought was cut short when Cara ran over while saying, “Are you sure you can’t afford to drive me back to S City when you clearly have such honorable friends such as the Grand Duke, Xavia?”
She was clearly trying to guilt-trip Xavia, but to her dismay, Xavia simply replied, “You should know that I’m paying him to do this, so being friends has nothing to do with this. Also, you may want to start heading to the airport soon. If you miss the flight, I won’t be buying you another ticket.”
Going pale, she was just about to retort when Ian asked, “Could you perhaps be Madam Fuller? Xavia’s foster mother?”
Smiling enthusiastically, Cara replied, “T-that’s right! I’ve been with her ever since she was three days old, and after all that I’ve gone through to take care of her, you could say that I’m closer to her biological mother!”
…Did this woman have any shame at all? It took him a while, but he eventually said, “…Since that’s the case, she should be given a bit more respect… Jovan? Drive her to the airport.”
Though Cara was initially smiling, the corner of her mouth twitched when she heard what he had to say. Wasn’t he going to offer her anything else? Also, why did it seem like he was just as keen as Xavia to drive her away?! Despite her displeasure, all Cara could do was take her bag and follow Jovan into the car…
Xavia herself was left pleasantly surprised as she said, “…Well, that was unexpected… Though I have to say, I like the way you handled her…”
Ian, for one, had made a thorough background check on Xavia, so he was well aware of what Cara had done to Xavia in the past. If Xavia hadn’t chosen to forgive her, he’d have taught her a lesson by now! Regardless, he had to be careful not to let her know that he had investigated her past. The last thing he wanted was for her to avoid him!
