“That aside, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t speak up for me. I wish to fully receive my punishment so that I can finally be at peace once I’m released…”
Before Xavia could reply, Sophia added, “…And… one last thing… Remember when you told me to have another fair shot with Young Master Burton? Well… I’m declining that offer. To me, you’re the best person for him, and I don’t wish to ruin things any further. You know, I’ve known that man for ages, but you’re the only woman he’s treated so specially and sincerely… With that said, please continue being by his side… and may happiness find you.”
It was clear that Sophia’s words came from the heart, and after a long while, Xavia revealed a gentle smile as she replied, “…Deal. I’m glad you turned over a new leaf, Sophia…”
Smiling back, Sophia then stared into Xavia’s eyes for a while before getting up and returning to her detention room… It was high time they began moving forward from all this… To a brighter future.
Upon exiting the police station, Xavia sighed before taking a deep breath… As they said, forgiving others was the best way to move on, and hopefully, Sophia’s future would turn as bright as before once she was released…
Her train of thought was cut short when she heard Yulia whine, “Mommy, this didn’t seem like a convenient spot to grab a taxi, so I called Daddy to pick us up… However, he said that he was busy, and that we’d need to wait for him for at least half an hour!”
Lifting Yulia into her arms, Xavia replied, “Yulia, while Mommy knows that you love Daddy a lot, he’s already tired from working overtime… If you tell him to pick us up after work, that’ll only make him more tired, you know…? With that said, let’s just wait for a cab to come by so that we can greet him at home, alright?”
“…Okay…”
