As Xavia walked off, Jenna looked almost like an abandoned kitten… but if only the others had paid attention, then they’d surely have noticed the woman clenching her scarred fists…
Moving back to Xavia, after descending the stairs, she gave Matthew a call… and when he picked up, Xavia explained the situation and said, “Please keep an eye on her, Doctor Rudner.”
“Can do. I’ll let you know the second she tries anything funny, but… I should remind you that I’m not as charitable as Mark. I’m expecting you to treat me to a meal and karaoke sessions in return.”
“Deal,” replied Xavia.
Just as she was about to leave, however, a car slowly drove up to her… and after the window was lowered, Xavia was surprised to see Ian and the Great Lady.
Quickly hanging up, she then asked, “Is there anything I can help you two with?”
Her tone was far from enthusiastic. After all, the Great Lady had defended Jenna even after learning the truth of the situation. The Great Lady herself paid no attention to her tone, and simply replied, “I’d just like to have a word with you, Miss Lockhart. It’s regarding your sister’s current condition. Would you mind getting into the car?”
It was pretty hard to refuse, especially since people could easily eavesdrop if she remained outside the car. With that, she simply got in and closed the door behind her.
Now that it was safer to talk, the Great Lady immediately said, “Right, let’s not beat around the bush… Jenna saved the First Lady back then, and though I don’t know much about the incident, my mother has always told me to be kind to her. Truth be told, I like both of you very much, and it pains me to see both of you become this helpless for the sake of one man. Had it not been for Zivon, I wonder if both of you would’ve led much better lives…”
“Either way, I know that you won’t willingly let things be after all that’s happened. With that said, regardless of whether Jenna’s faking her condition or not, the fact remains that she’ll remain there for the rest of her life. You’ll be able to live your best life with or without her, so I hope that things can end here… Do you get what I’m saying?”
