Though the secretary was perfectly aware of what was happening, he simply put on a clueless façade as he added, “I’m curious as well, Miss Lockhart. Who called, and why do you look so horrified…?”

Upon hearing that, Xavia’s quivering voice replied, “S-someone’s kidnapped Yulia, and the kidnapper wants a million dollars in exchange! I can’t notify the authorities, and if I don’t pay soon, she’ll surely be killed…! I… I can’t…! M-Maison, please just call your father already…!”

If Zivon was notified now, he’d surely go on the attack instead of paying the money, and that wouldn’t do since the money was supposed to be the assassin’s payment! On the other hand, if Xavia did it alone, then there’d be no evidence of a bank transfer!
