The entire house got surrounded by countless reporters and cameramen! As the bloodthirsty reporters began banging on the empty house’s door, Xavia—who was now safe in Mark’s car—couldn’t help but sigh in relief as she muttered, “…Thanks for saving our bacon… Had it not been for you, we’d surely be trapped in there for who knows how long…”
“There’s no need to thank me… That aside… haven’t you told Zivon about the child…?” replied Mark in a gentle tone as he glanced at the sleeping child in Xavia’s arms.
“…You… know that he’s her father…?” muttered Xavia with a slight frown.
Grunting in response, Mark replied, “Back when I went searching for you in Darlsbury, I had seen you together with him… I had deduced that the Lockharts had matched him with you, and thinking that you were willingly with him, I ultimately decided to head abroad. However, I eventually saw that he had gotten married to Jenna, and that was enough to make me suspicious.”
“In the end, I got Matthew to return to have a look into the situation… Currently, I don’t really have the exact details of what took place that night… But knowing you, I have a feeling that there was just some sort of mess up that night. Regardless of what truly took place, I know for a fact that that child’s father could only be Zivon…” concluded Mark in a rather gloomy tone.
Ever since he came to that conclusion, he had constantly condemned himself for not properly analyzing the situation back then. Hell, had he considered asking Xavia the truth, things may not have ended this way… At the very least, he could’ve taken her away with him to prevent her from getting more hurt than she needed to…
Regardless, Xavia could tell that Mark really trusted her, and she couldn’t help but smile subtly as she replied, “…Well, as you deduced, she really is his child… and yes, that night was pretty much just a major accident… After all, I’m completely out of his league, and I had honestly never planned to tell him the truth about Yulia…”
