"Every time I went on business trips, she’d worry that I wouldn't like the food there, so she would cook some dishes and pack them for me. She’d always tell me that if I couldn’t cope, I didn't have to be strong and earn money to bring home.
No matter my age, she still treated me like a little girl. The devotion that I had for my work was on par with the devotion she showed towards me. Sadly, I did not cherish it, and I would be so busy that I would go a few days without contacting her.
I thought she would always be there for me. When she passed, I looked through her photos and realized that my beautiful and capable mother already had gray hair and wrinkles. She was old and needed her daughter, but by the time I realized it, it was too late.
My mother isn't around to leave the light on or make porridge for me anymore, and there’s nobody waiting for me to come home. I wanted to leave my job to go shopping with my mom, watch movies with her, and have dinner together, but I’ll never have the chance to do those things now.”
A child who had lost a parent when they just started to cherish them was truly a tragic thing. Unfortunately, by the time they realized it, things would never go back to the way they were.
Tears were streaming down Sophia’s face; the strong woman from before was crying like a little girl.
Zivon went to her and passed her a tissue. “If your mother knew what you were thinking, she would be very touched, but at the same time, she wouldn’t want you to blame yourself.”
Hearing his words, Sophia started crying even harder. It was true—her mother was a kind soul. Even when Sophia did something wrong, she would never blame her for it. When Sophia had attempted suicide because she couldn't control her own emotions, her mother thought it was her fault because she had played that video during her birthday party.
Her mother had just wanted a good life for her, but Sophia had blamed her for it! How heartbroken had her mother been back then?
Sophia raised a hand to slap herself on her face when she recalled those memories. “I’m heartless… I feel bad for my mother for having the most ungrateful daughter in the world.”
She was clearly having an emotional breakdown.
Zivon frowned. He might not have feelings for her, but he didn't want to see her like this. He held her arm to stop her. “That's enough, calm down.”
