When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 354

Dorothea woke up to the obnoxious sound of Latham’s phone ringing at full volume. Buried deep under the covers, she groaned, kicked his leg, and pressed her hands over her ears. “Your phone… answer it, please.”

Latham was already half-awake, reaching blindly for his phone with a sigh. When he saw his assistant Raye’s name lighting up the screen, he felt a headache coming on. Before he could even get irritated, Raye’s serious voice filled the room. “Latham, are you up? There’s a mess online right now, ugly rumors about Dorothea. Should I start taking them down?”

That snapped Latham right into full alert. He pulled up the news and saw a flood of gossip, all spinning wild stories about Albert and Dorothea. Who on earth would drag up old stuff like this? His voice turned cold. “Take the trending topics down right now. Actually, set up a press conference for eight this morning.”

“Got it,” Raye answered, not missing a beat. Good thing he always woke up early and caught the drama before it blew up even further. Thanks to him stepping in, the headlines quickly lost their heat. Still, the more they tried to cover it up, the harder people speculated. Group chats were buzzing, secret forum threads popped up nonstop. There were too many posts to catch all at once.

Latham chose not to tell Dorothea about any of it. He left the bed quietly, leaned down, and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. “Go back to sleep a while longer. I’ll have the housekeeper bring you breakfast later, okay?”

She answered in a sleepy mumble, barely awake, and Latham smiled softly before slipping into the closet to get ready.

By the time he walked into the office, he was ahead of schedule. Raye had already been at his desk for hours.

“Did you find out who started this?” Latham asked.

“We traced the photos,” Raye said. “They came from Georgia, the same guest who was on that reality show with Dorothea.”
