When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 339

The officers only had eyes for Vince that day. His family was safe, at least for now.

“Okay.”

And just like that, Vince was taken away.

Vince’s wife fought to keep herself together. “Bonita, I’ll take you to the airport, but I can’t leave the country with you. Don’t reach out to us. If you need anything, call your uncle. Don’t worry about us, alright?”

Bonita was just a little girl, and she’d never seen anything like this before. “Mom, is Dad going to be okay?”

There was no answer she could give.

Still, Vince’s wife remembered how he always talked about a colleague from Cabinda. That man was impressive, the kind of person who actually got things done. If anyone could help Vince, it would be him. She’d even gone to his wedding not long ago.

When Scott got the call from Vince’s wife, he let out a cold laugh. “Why would I ever help someone who tried to set me up?”

“What? Scott, that can’t be true. Vince was just at your wedding. Why would he want to hurt you?”

The truth was, it was Scott’s team who had collected all the evidence of Vince’s bribes and sent it in anonymously. There was no way he’d turn around and clear Vince’s name.

“Anything’s possible. If you don’t believe me, ask him yourself.”

With that, Vince’s last hope was gone.

The prosecutors had all the facts. Every piece of evidence was right in front of them. Cash, stocks, properties, even that college admission scheme—altogether, Vince’s bribes added up to thirty million.

That was no small number.

If nothing unexpected happened, Vince would spend the rest of his life in prison.

Mamie brought Scott with her to visit her parents’ graves.

“Mom, the man who hurt you finally got what he deserved.”
