Before Nelly could even say a word, Sheila rushed to take the blame, her voice trembling. “Tina, it’s all my fault. I should’ve watched Carrie better. This whole thing is my bad…”
Tina let out a cold chuckle. “The Olsons really are a cut above, aren’t they? Ms. Olson, your manners put some people to shame. Don’t worry. The Garland family is fair. We don’t just lash out at people for no reason.”
Nelly couldn’t help it. She burst out laughing. “Oh, absolutely. So this is what being from a famous family looks like? Dividing people into ranks and classes?”
Tina froze, staring at her. Nelly had always been so quiet, especially around her. Even when Tina called her out, Nelly never dared to talk back. What had gotten into her today?
“Nelly, who the hell do you think you’re talking to?” Tina snapped, her face turning red. “I’m warning you, don’t get too full of yourself.”
But Nelly’s voice only grew sharper. “So just because Sheila has a fancy background, you’re fine with her being the other woman? And since I’m an orphan, I’m supposed to let the Garland family walk all over me all these years?”
Nelly had had enough. She wasn’t going to take it anymore. She pulled out her phone, her heart pounding. She had photos saved, proof of Brody and Sheila going home together. If Tina was so obsessed with her precious reputation, then Nelly was going to rip that mask off in front of everyone.
Before she could do anything, Brody grabbed her wrist.
To everyone else, it looked like Nelly had completely lost it. Alan and Sheila jumped in front of Tina, like they thought Nelly was about to throw her phone at her. Tina clutched her chest, utterly shocked and speechless.
Brody’s voice was cold. “Alan, get them out of here.”
Alan moved fast, hustling Tina and Sheila out of the room.
“Brody, let go of me!” Nelly struggled hard, but Brody was too strong. He snatched her phone away and trapped her against the wall.
