Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 684

“Psycho? What’s that supposed to mean?” Madeline frowned, confusion creasing her brow.

Honestly, it wasn’t much of a shock that Andrew was marrying Helene. Their families were practically made for each other, and Andrew and Helene already had a history. Plus, as the only daughter of the Fortner family, there was no way they’d let her end up alone after things didn’t work out with Julian. Of course they’d find her someone to marry.

Brenda leaned in like she was about to share the latest drama. “You haven’t heard? Helene totally went off the rails. Nobody knows what set her off, but now she’s running around saying people are out to kill her.”

“A breakdown, huh...” Madeline’s mind flashed to that night when Julian tied up both Claire and Helene. She hadn’t heard a word about Helene since then. Now that she thought about it, maybe that was what finally pushed Helene over the edge.

A familiar voice piped up. “Hey, are you two done yet? What about me? She will be my family. Isn't that tragic?”

Brenda cracked up. “Alright, you get one second of pity from me. But look on the bright side. At least she’s not the Graysons’ headache anymore. Now she’s all yours.”

James didn’t miss a beat. “No sympathy at all. I share a little heartbreak, spill the news, and all I get is cold comfort. That’s it, I’m out.”

Brenda shook her head, making an exaggerated clucking sound. “Unbelievable. Seriously, Helene’s got some insane luck. No matter what, someone always steps up to marry her.”

Madeline set her phone down, smirking. “You talk like you’re so much better off. Like there aren’t people dying to marry you.”

Brenda’s expression faltered, the light fading from her eyes. She looked down and mumbled, her voice barely a whisper, “Someone wants to marry me. Of course someone does.”

“Helene is just... Helene,” Madeline said thoughtfully. “With her connections, someone will always come forward — even if she lost her mind. Andrew’s just doing this for the Fortner family and all the influence that comes with it. It’s a smart business move for him.”

The conversation barely had time to settle before a bodyguard walked in, his arms full of shiny gift boxes and a bouquet big enough for a wedding. “Wow, Madeline, someone really went all out for you today. Think Mr. Grayson is going to be jealous?”

Right. She’d almost forgotten someone was coming by. Brenda’s comment made her frown. Madeline looked at the bodyguard. “Who sent all this?”

The man bowed his head slightly. “A Mr. Palmer. He also left a message for you.”
