Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 648

Before the doctor could answer, Julian gave him a look. They’d talked before, so the doctor just smiled and said, “Ms. Monroe, as long as you stay calm and keep up with your treatment, your eyes will recover. It’s just a matter of time.”

Madeline listened to the usual, official response. She knew there was no way the doctor could promise her when or even if her sight would fully return. It depended on how well she healed.

She didn’t argue. “Okay, I’ll do my best. Thank you.”

“Your fever has gone down,” the doctor added. “Try to get lots of rest, and keep your meals light for a while.”

“I got it,” she replied.

Turning toward Julian, Madeline called out, “You heard that, right? My fever’s down.”

Julian sighed, rubbing his forehead. He turned to the doctor. “Is it okay for her to go out?”

The doctor thought for a moment. “If she feels fine, getting some sun is good. But absolutely no strenuous stuff.”

“Thank you,” Julian said.

Madeline patted the back of his hand. Julian caught her fingers and folded them gently in his own.

“So, you don’t have a reason to keep me inside anymore, do you?”

He let out another sigh. “The party’s at night. I’ll take you out this afternoon.”

Madeline grinned. “Deal.”

“Oh, I still need to call Noah and Oliver. They’re probably freaking out. Can I use your phone for a sec?”

“I already messaged them last night. They know you’re safe. Eat something first, then call.”

Madeline sat up. “Fine. I’ll go wash up.”

“Stay put.” Julian leaned down and lifted her up in his arms, carrying her off to the bathroom like it was the easiest thing in the world.

She didn’t bother fighting it this time. She already felt so useless—faking strength would only make things harder for everyone.

She caught herself chuckling and asked quietly, “Julian, what if I can never see again? You wouldn’t get tired of me, would you?”
